In the immediate vicinity of town is the Arboretum and Pork Pie – both offering walking opportunities, and vantage points, from which to take in the surrounding’s.

Bridal Veil Falls picnic and camping site is located in the Eland Sanctuary. A relatively easy 5km walk, or a short drive, and you arrive at the falls, which plunge 50 meters into an accessible, crystal clear pool.

Only 18km’s drive away are the Chimanimani Mountains – the National Park office provides the entry point for walks into the range and also has camping facilities.

Take a day walk to The Hut and explore the immediate vicinity; or overnight camp – either in tents or in one of the many caves dotted throughout the range.

There are numerous trails throughout the Chimanimani range offering something to suit all levels of exertion – with trip options ranging from 1-5 days dependent on one’s aspirations and energies.

For the adventurous and thrill seeking there is the nearby Outward Bound center offering a range of activities and life-skill programs, accommodation and camping facilities, and access to Paradise Pools.

Nearby Attractions

Hikers not looking for the physical challenge posed by the trails to The Hut may prefer to visit The Corner; the area borders Chikukwa village (approx. 35kms). Visitors can relax at the picnic site at the foot of the Muhohwa Falls, plunge in the cool pools, or enjoy a walking adventure in the immediate vicinity.

Other attractions in the Chimanimani Mountain range include the Nyakwaha and Haroni Botanical Reserves, as well as the Haroni and Mukurupiri waterfalls.
