Distance from Chimanimani to Chirinda Forest – 96km
The Chirinda Forest Botanical Reserve is an area that spans 950 hectares. It is situated on the slopes of Mount Selinda, a short distance from the small town of Chipinge. It is a lush, verdant rain forest with abundant fungi and is home to the Big Tree, the biggest tree in Zimbabwe. Sadly the tree was struck by lightning years ago and is much reduced. But it is still worth seeing to marvel at its massive girth. And the entire forest is a wonder to view, dense and tropical with a number of species of trees more commonly found in Madagascar and Tanzania.
